A long ride of over 300 km… Today will probably be the last one. Thinking that suddenly makes me feel lonely.
I’ve ridden freely across North America, north to south, east to west. My partner has carried me through the scorching land without a single breakdown. Thank you—truly.
But the journey isn’t over yet! Next, I’m going to ride all over Las Vegas.
I’ve already ridden more than 6,000 miles, yet not even the slightest trouble. My partner has supported me with everything he has.
At this point, he’s practically a part of my body. Well, of course— we’ve gone everywhere together. Even for a 100‑meter move, I always rode him.
Right now, I’m in Moab, Utah. I passed through once, but something tugged at me, so I turned back. My soul reacted strongly. So I followed it. When you follow intuition, things go well.
Tonight’s lodging is Riverside Inn. Two nights for $107.76. The room is clean and well‑kept.
After dropping off my luggage, my partner and I headed into town. I was hungry.
Then a sign jumped into our eyes:
“SMITTY’S GOLDEN STEAK.”
The next moment, we were already in the parking lot. This reaction is getting dangerous. Maybe I should think a little first… Anyway— today’s dinner is steak again.
The atmosphere was pure “Western.” I enjoyed a cold drink and a hot, juicy, tender steak. Total: $18.79 (rate ¥113.821). Cheap!
Feeling full and satisfied, I cruised through town again. There were many souvenir shops. Maybe it’s time to buy something.
I entered a shop called “DESSERT DREAMS.” The name alone was wonderful. I bought many beautifully crafted souvenirs. Total: $46.78 (¥113.821).
After dropping the souvenirs at the motel, my partner and I headed out again.
Then we saw a sign:
“CANYONLANDS BY NIGHT.”
I wanted to go immediately. I signed up for the tour—$41.43. A bit pricey, but experiences like this become precious memories.
As I waited for the tour, I noticed hummingbirds visiting the feeder near the reception area. They were used to people and didn’t mind being close. Their tiny bodies beat their wings incredibly fast— a strong buzzing sound. Life is amazing.
Soon, the announcement came: “Please board the boat.”
The tour began.
To be honest, the music and narration were a bit distracting. The sounds of insects, the river, and nature itself would have been enough.
But when I looked up— a sky full of stars. I even saw a shooting star. It moved me deeply.
Photography was prohibited.
After the tour, I decided to take photos in the national park at night before returning to the motel.
And then— I had a shocking experience.
When I tried to ride back, I couldn’t see the center line of the road. Not even with my naked eyes.
It scared me. That was the only time I ever experienced something like that. Unbelievable. A truly intense moment.
Of course, I rode back slowly.
To be continued…
