【The Iron Horse Traveler’s Mysterious Experience・Episode8】

On Texas State Highway 35, my partner and I were riding toward San Antonio. Cutting through the wind on the freeway, I felt incredibly refreshed.

Oh, right— here in America, every biker you pass always gives you a greeting. One of the most memorable moments was when I passed a police motorcycle. Even he greeted me as we passed, haha. Of course I greeted him back! Bikers really cross all kinds of boundaries. It’s the best.

In all my past road trips by car, nothing like that ever happened. By the way, I don’t like four‑wheeled vehicles— they just don’t suit me at all.

I kept riding, enjoying the scenery and the greetings. Then suddenly, something felt strange.

“Hm… what is this…?” I thought.

First, I started losing the sensation in the hands gripping the handlebars. Then my partner disappeared from my field of vision. My body felt incredibly light— or rather, as if it had disappeared entirely. Then my whole being felt floaty…

How do I describe it… My awareness— yes, probably my consciousness— began expanding. Expanding endlessly…

(Wait, hold on— this is bad, isn’t it? I’m riding a motorcycle!!)

But my awareness kept expanding without caring about that. Soon, I felt a sense of unity with everything around me. As if I had merged with nature itself— the wind, the earth, the consciousness of the planet, its breath and heartbeat. I felt one with all of it.

At that point, I didn’t even care about the motorcycle. I just surrendered myself to that sensation. It felt like I disappeared, and I was breathing in sync with the Earth.

It felt incredible.

After a while, my senses gradually returned to the “lower world,” and there I was again, riding down Highway 35.

(What was that just now… But man, it felt amazing.) Seriously… what was that? It was bliss. A supreme experience. The highest form of healing.

(And this experience didn’t happen just once or twice— I felt it many more times afterward.)

After that mysterious experience, I found myself riding along Highway 35 with my partner again. Back to normal— and hungry. I’ll eat something in the next town.

Today there are lots of lakes and greenery. The wind is gentle, and it feels unbelievably good. I teared up several times along the way. Motorcycles… they’re truly the best.

Wrapped in that emotion, enjoying the scenery and the wind, I spotted a town called “Temple.” It’s about 65 miles from Austin. Let’s find something to eat here.

What do I want? Of course…

Ah—there it is! A yellow sign with black letters:

“DICKEY’S BARBECUE PIT.”

I ordered B‑B‑Q without hesitation. For my drink, I chose iced tea— I’ll probably drink plenty later at the motel, so I’ll skip it for now.

Oh! The meat arrived. Wow… as expected from authentic B‑B‑Q. Delicious—too delicious.

Do I ever get tired of eating B‑B‑Q every single day? No way. Not even close.

After finishing the American‑sized meal cleanly and completely, I looked around the restaurant again. And then— I spotted something dangerous. There was a line of people. Everyone was carrying something white back to their tables.

“What’s that?” I asked a staff member. “Ice cream,” she said. “And it’s free.” She smiled and walked away.

(Free… as in no charge…?) Yes. And not only free— it’s all you can eat.

Hey, hey… is Texas okay? Are they serious?

I’m sinking deeper and deeper into the Texas swamp. This state is especially dangerous. Ever since entering Texas, my limiter has been completely destroyed. My weight… my once‑slim body…

At this rate, I’m…

But still— I love Texas.

To be continued…
