That candy shop is still going strong, you know.
The girls who work there

The owner, standing behind the counter,
turned his back to me and reached with his right hand
onto the top shelf of the cabinet in the far right corner,
pulling out a small box.

“So, which one will it be?
Please choose based on your intuition.”

Peering inside, I saw nine different kinds of candy.

I chose the one with the most captivating colors—
a candy with a colorless swirl of jet black and rainbow hues.
I opened the wrapper and popped the candy into my mouth.
The moment it touched my tongue,
a transparent sensation with no taste spread through my mouth.
Gradually, a sourness emerged, and finally, it turned sweet.

“That is Zero Swirl.

　まだあのキャンディー屋は健在で御座いますよ
　あそこの娘たちは
　今ではすっかり大きくなりましたがね・・・
　今日は9種類ございます」

カウンターの中にいるマスターは
こちらに背を向け右手で右奥の棚の
最上段から小さな小箱を出してきた

「さ、どれになさいますか？
　直感で選んでくださいね」

中を覗くと9種類のキャンディがある

俺は1番惹かれる色彩、
漆黒と虹が混ざった無色の渦のキャンディを選んだ
封を解き、キャンディを口に含む
舌に触れた瞬間、
何の味も無い透明な感覚が広がる
徐々に酸味が現れ最後に甘くなる

「そちらはゼロ・スウィル、
　無の軌道に存在する“白紙の花”から
　抽出された甘味素を使って作りました
　「無」に触れたい時、旧い世界を終わらせたい時に
　舐めると良いキャンディです
　それと同時に自分の内側にある未使用の可能性と
　共鳴し始めます」
